4.You Are the Art
The Evolving
Identity
THIS ESSAY IS STILL UNDER EDIT+DESIGN PROCESS
EVOLUTION
Well… Have you even thought of yourself as art?
I sure haven’t!
Being the face of my business is what made me think about my image in very different ways.
There is the “looks” part of it, and there is the “reclaiming” of it.
YOUR FACE ISN'T JUST YOUR BRAND. IT'S YOUR MASTERPIECE.
This isn't just about branding.
It's about reclaiming your image as your canvas. As your creative power.
You're not here to fit inside a brand aesthetic, or to take 3 hours to do your make up.
You're here to become living art.
Let’s highlight this with some neon markers:
This isn't about taking "better" photos.
Or designing a prettier grid.
Or dressing for your niche.
It's about finally realizing:
You are the message.
You are the muse.
You are the medium.
[Add more playful imagery from beach?]
THE CONDITIONING THAT KEEPS YOU SMALL
We've been conditioned to believe:
- Beauty = performance (You must perform attractiveness to be worthy)
- Visibility = vulnerability (Being seen means being exposed, judged, attacked)
- Branding = reduction (You must flatten yourself into one clear message)
- Power = polish (You can't be powerful unless you're perfect)
And this is why so many brilliant women avoid being "the face" of their brand.
Not because they're camera-shy.
Not because they don't care about visibility.
But because they've only experienced image-making as objectification.
Someone else's lens.
Someone else's standards.
Someone else's approval.
They've never experienced image-making as authorship.
As creative power. As ritual. As art.
But that changes now.
FROM OBJECT TO ARTIST: THE SHIFT
Here's the truth:
When you direct the image,
when you play with your visual voice,
when you embody your evolution—
You go from being "seen" to becoming the seer.
Let me explain:
Being "seen" = passive, reactive
- Someone else looks at you
- Someone else judges you
- Someone else decides if you're "good enough"
- You wait to be chosen, approved, validated
Becoming "the seer" = active, creative
- YOU decide what to capture
- YOU choose how to be seen
- YOU author your own image
- YOU witness yourself with curiosity and compassion
That's the shift from object to artist.
From being looked AT → to being the one who LOOKS
From subject → to author
From performance → to creation
That's art.
That's sovereignty.
That's YOU.
YOUR IMAGE AS CEREMONY
Image-First work isn't just a method. It's a healing, identity-building ritual.
It invites you to:
- Dress for your spirit, not just your brand
- Style your story into form
- Turn your scars, moods, and mess into symbols
- Celebrate the multidimensionality of your expression
Yes—selfies can be sacred.
Yes—you can be your own damn masterpiece.
THE ROLES YOU EMBODY
Through this work, you become:
🎨 The artist (you create the vision)
👑 The muse (you are the inspiration)
🧬 The message (you embody the meaning)
💃 The movement (you are the energy)
🔥 The moment (you capture the now)
Not curated. Not performative. Not perfect.
But so deeply real it magnetizes everything aligned to your truth.
THE CONSISTENCY TRAP
Branding Rule #1: Be Consistent
Except… you're not.
You've changed. Your work has changed. Your voice, your body, your vision—it's all moved.
But your brand? Still stuck in a version of you that doesn't quite fit.
You're evolving. And your brand needs to evolve with you.
Here's the trap:
You built a brand that was clear, polished, aligned.
But now?
😵💫 You've outgrown it
😶 You don't relate to your own visuals anymore
🤐 You hesitate to pivot because… what if it looks messy?
You've become a shapeshifter in a box made for a single shape.
REINVENTION IS FEMININE INTELLIGENCE
Reinvention isn't flakiness.
It's feminine intelligence.
It's creative truth.
It's the sacred right to become more of who you are—again and again.
You're not inconsistent. You're in motion.
EVOLVING IDENTITY = EVOLVING IMAGE
Every shift you go through has a visual ripple effect:
- New vibe
- New energy
- New era
- New YOU
But here's what most people do:
They ignore the shift.
They cling to what worked.
They stay branded for the past.
That's not authenticity. That's stagnation.
WHY IMAGE-FIRST WORKS FOR EVOLUTION
Your image is meant to grow with you.
It should:
- Document you
- Activate you
- Give your audience a visual way to witness your growth
That's why this creative image-making practice works.
You can:
🖼️ Catch up to your own transformation
🎭 Try on the future you
🔮 Feel into new frequency
💃 Visually process your reinvention in real-time
PERMISSION TO BE UNPREDICTABLE
You get to be:
- A little inconsistent
- A little wild
- A little unpredictable
And still completely YOU.
SELF-IMPRESSIONISM: YOUR BECOMING, CAPTURED
Think about impressionist painters—Monet, Renoir, Degas.
They didn't paint one "correct" version of a scene. They painted the feeling, the light, the moment.
That's self-impressionism:
You're not capturing one "true" image of yourself.
You're creating visual archives of your becoming—
Across time, across moods, across transformations.
Each image is a brushstroke.
Together, they paint the full picture of who you are.
Not fixed. Not finished. Alive.
THE SHAPESHIFTING SELF
You're allowed to shapeshift.
Your face is evolving.
Your body is changing.
Your work is expanding.
Your brand should too.
You're not off-brand. You're becoming MORE.
THE CHANGING IMAGE: WHEN TRANSFORMATION IS VISIBLE
Sometimes change is dramatic:
- Surgery (cosmetic or medical)
- Extreme weight loss or gain
- An accident or illness that alters your appearance
- A transition that makes you literally unrecognizable
And suddenly, the mirror shows a stranger.
A colleague of mine lost over 50 kilos—completely transformed his body.
When he returned to his practice, his patients didn't recognize him.
They'd walk past his door, confused. Check the address. Walk in hesitantly.
He had to put up a sign with an old photo and a note: "Yes, it's still me."
Here's what struck me:
He needed that old image—not to hide from his transformation, but to bridge it.
To say: "I was this. Now I'm this. It's still ME."
But here's what most people do when they transform:
They erase the "before."
They hide the old images.
They try to pretend the past didn't exist.
And their audience feels disconnected.
Because the visual thread—the continuity—is broken.
This is where Image-First becomes medicine.
When you're capturing many reflections over time—not clinging to one "before" or one "after"—
You're documenting your range, not defining yourself by a single moment.
You see: I was this. I became that. I'm also this other thing now.
And none of it is THE you. It's all versions of you.
That range—that collection of images—gives you permission to change without losing yourself.
Or losing your audience.
THE AGING IMAGE: WHEN YOU'RE CURIOUS, YOU DON'T FADE
And then there's aging.
The wrinkles. The gray hair. The softening. The deepening.
We live in a culture that tells us aging is loss.
But what if it's gain?
What if your emerging wrinkles are NOT the rupture?
What if they're the next chapter of your art?
When you're curious about yourself, you don't fade.
You evolve.
The 40-year-old you has something the 25-year-old didn't.
The 60-year-old you will have something the 40-year-old can't imagine yet.
Your face is a timeline. Your body is a map.
And when you approach your changing image with curiosity instead of resistance—
You don't fight aging. You document it. You create with it.
You turn it into aesthetic authorship.
AESTHETIC AUTHORSHIP: YOUR CREATIVE SIGNATURE ACROSS TIME
This is where you claim your visual evolution as art.
You're not just "aging gracefully."
You're not just "staying relevant."
You're authoring your aesthetic.
You're saying:
"This is how I want to be seen at THIS stage."
"This is the energy I'm embodying NOW."
"This is my visual voice TODAY."
And tomorrow? It might shift again.
That's not inconsistency. That's creative thread identity—
The through-line that connects all your versions, even as they evolve.
YOUR BRAND BECOMES A LIVING GALLERY
Of your:
- Evolving identity
- Creative becoming
- Emotional truth
- Personal myth
- Magnetic contradictions
Your business becomes art.
And your art becomes a business.
MY STORY: TWO YEARS OFF THE GRID
I've been off the online grid for over 2 years.
All this time, I dove deep into my ideas—focusing on seeing and being seen. I wrote, rewrote, and edited endlessly.
And here's the irony: I became an expert on the thing I most needed to master.
I offer sharp perspective on visibility—while wrestling with my own.
Ha! The universe has a sense of humor.
But the pause wasn't just about visibility.
I had to make sure my return aligned with my deepest values at THIS time.
And no wonder old words felt lame and old visuals felt off.
The energy I want to bring now—the only energy I CAN bring—is so very different.
But here's the thing:
I don't have to start from scratch.
I don't have to follow the cue of what WAS.
I don't have to reinvent.
The only thing I can (and am willing to) do is keep following my creative thread…
…and bring to life my creative signature as it emerges NOW.
Same person.
Same curiosity.
New state.
New image.
What creates this life-saving thread?
The plethora of my "old" photos. My stepping stones.
The upcoming new images? These will catch up to my new reality.
Which will I keep showing? ALL OF THEM.
Because the old images aren't mistakes. They're not "before" photos to be hidden.
They're part of my evolution.
They just can't stand alone anymore. They need the new ones beside them to tell the full story.
The day I stopped asking, "what does my brand need to look like?"
And started asking, "what image do I want to create today?"
—my entire relationship with branding changed.
Because I stopped trying to nail my brand.
And started trying to feel like myself.
YOU'RE ALLOWED TO SHAPESHIFT
No more trying to fit into an outdated visual story.
But here's the nuance:
Your old images aren't wrong. They're not "before" photos to hide in shame.
They're part of your evolution.
The issue isn't that they exist. It's that they're overused or standing alone without context.
When you add NEW images beside them—images that show who you're becoming NOW—
The old ones become stepping stones, not anchors.
They show: "I was this. I'm also this now. And I'm still evolving."
That's the mosaic. That's the archive. That's the art.
Let your brand breathe with you.
Grow with you.
Shapeshift with you.
Because you're not a static logo.
You're a living, changing, creating force.
SO TELL ME:
What if your image isn't about packaging you up…
…but about witnessing your becoming?
What if you're not here to follow a format…
…but to invent a visual language that's all your own?
Because you're not a content creator.
You're the canvas.
And the catalyst.
And the creation itself.
When you're curious about yourself, you don't fade.
You become art.
